Probably the best (paved) climb in the area, certainly one of the hardest, but with beautiful views at the top. There's even an old ruined tower which lets you see over to the Austrian side. The descent is a bit annoying since there are small gutters crossing the road every 100m or so. If you don't want to risk a puncture hitting them, you have to constantly slow down. Since the road is quite narrow, the traffic is only allowed to go up or down at certain times of the hour. I believe you can go up for the first 15 minutes of each hour, the rest is for driving down only. Not sure if this is meant just for cars, but if you time it correctly, you shouldn't have any nervous drivers behind you (it's very hard for them to overtake you).

The climb up to the legendary Falkenstein can definitely be done if you are in the neighbourhood. The tarmac is very rough. There is a set of traffic lights at the toll booth that makes traffic go in the other direction every 30 minutes. I just rode over it on my racing bike.
