Lange, regelmatige klim vanuit Epen richting Eperheide in Zuid-Limburg. Start in het dorp met wat steilere stroken en loopt daarna vlot door richting het plateau.
De weg is breed en meestal goed berijdbaar. Veel verkeer kan het ritme wat breken, maar het uitzicht op het heuvellandschap maakt veel goed, zeker richting het hogere deel bij de Gerardushoeve.

Daar keuze om via Terziet naar België te gaan of naar de Camerig. Wil je toch naar Mechelen? Dan even richting Camerig rijden en bij herberg De Smidse de Molenweg opgaan. Aan het einde kan je dan rechtsaf richting Mechelen.

Climb on the road from Epen to Eperheide. The climb starts at the junction with Wilhelminastraat. The steepest part of the climb is in the beginning until leaving the built-up area. After that, the gradient constantly runs between 4 and 7％ until just before Eperheide. At the first houses of Eperheide to the summit by the little square with statue of the Virgin Mary it quickly flattens out. From Hotel Berghoeve to Restaurant Gerardushoeve on the left, there are phenomenal views of the typical Limburg landscape.

Nice constant climbing on a through road with mostly good tarmac. At first you ride out of the town and towards the end the landscape becomes greener and more expansive.

Nice long climb at a good percentage. As you exit the village, there are great views to the left. Just before the top, be sure to stop at the Gerardushoeve car park for a fantastic panorama and view of the triple-border point!
Mooie lange klim aan een flink percentage. Als je het dorp uitrijd heb je een prachtig uitzicht links. Net voor de top moet je zeker even stoppen op de parkeerplaats van de Gerardushoeve voor een fantastich panorama en uitzicht op het drielandenpunt!
In the beginning I had to push and then it became a reasonable runner. From Mechelen you get in one time 105 altimeters so that's nice for Dutch standards. Unfortunately the road is very busy and only in the second half you have (beautiful) views to the left.
In het begin even aanzetten en daarna wordt het een redelijke loper. Vanuit Mechelen pak je in één keer 105 hoogtemeters dus da's wel lekker voor Nederlandse begrippen. Helaas is de weg erg druk en pas in de tweede helft heb je (wel mooie) uitzichten naar links.

For me, this climb is always the last one of a big tour and then it's never really easy, the first part in Epen is also the toughest. After this it's on to the hotels. Before the top you have (to the left) beautiful views towards the Camerig. This makes the climb worthwhile. Personally I prefer to take the Schweiberg when I go from Mechelen/Epen to Slenaken. This climb is calmer, longer and you conquer more height.
Bij mij is deze klim altijd het sluitstuk van een grote ronde en dan valt hij nooit echt mee, het eerste stuk in Epen is ook gelijk het lastigst. Hierna is het doorstoempen richting de hotels. Voor de top heb je (naa links) mooie vergezichten richting de camerig. Dit maakt de klim de moeite waard. Persoonlijk neem ik liever de Schweiberg als ik vanuit Mechelen/Epen naar Slenaken ga. Deze beklimming is rustiger, langer en je overwint meer hoogte
Often driven as a descent to the Camerig, but the 'ascend' may certainly be. View is fantastic, climb is quite steep but I suspect that in the weekend in fine weather is very busy with car / motorcycle traffic. If you're there, just do it.
Vaak gereden als afdaling naar de Camerig, maar de 'ascend' mag er zeker zijn. Uitzicht is fantastisch, klim is best pittig maar ik vermoed dat het in het weekend bij mooi weer erg druk is met auto/motor verkeer. Als je er toch bent, gewoon doen.
Not so's a great climb, but the view is beautiful. Definitely worth it to stop halfway at the parking lot and enjoy the scenery.

I cycled this climb two days ago, but don't remember much about it. Great climb to get from A to B. The Gerardushoeve is a nice target, but that's not all.
Ik heb deze klim twee dagen geleden gefietst, maar kan me er weinig meer van herinneren. Prima klim om van A naar B te komen. De Gerardushoeve is een mooi mikpunt, maar dan ben je er nog niet.

I do this climb at the end of a long ride through the hills of southern Limburg. If after about 150 km of climbing, descending, turning and twisting I still manage to get out of my saddle, I find it a nice, enjoyable climb to enjoy the landscape one last time. When I can't do all that anymore, I suppress the pain and long for the train to the Randstad.
Deze klim doe ik aan het slot van een lange rit door de heuvels van Zuid-Limburg. Als het na een km of 150 klimmen, dalen, draaien en keren nog lukt om uit mijn zadel te komen dan vind ik het een fijne, leuke klim om nog een laatste keer genieten van het landschap. Als dat allemaal niet meer lukt, dan verbijt ik de pijn en verlang ik naar de verlossende treinreis naar de Randstad.
As a climb not so spectacular, but the view is breathtakingly beautiful.
