I loved this climb from Embrun. It's just as exciting from Saint André. Was this road made so wide for cyclists? Have motorists not discovered it? What I particularly like up there is the austere and majestic rock barrier that shelters the village of La Chalp.
Powerful! Telluric!
Yes, you definitely have to go to La Chalp.
And then the Parpaillon awaits you!
The descent is brilliant. The bends are quite wide. You convince yourself that the road belongs to you.
What a wonderful climb this is. Nowhere difficult, everywhere beautiful and above all very quiet. I always encounter more cyclists than cars here. Really a must. And as already indicated in both variants of this climb: a wonderful descent!
Nice climb to add if you are cycling the balcony route Guillestre - Embrun. The climb slowly winds up to the cute little ski village of Crevoux. The descent is lovely, well laid out and you can look into the road for quite some time to whizz down.
