It's a lovely climb, with plenty of shade, which makes it pleasant in all seasons. The road is not very busy and the surface is fine. The start is fairly quiet, in the forest, but as you reach the end, the trees disappear and the slope steepens. The Château de Caseneuve, at the top of the hill, is visible for most of the climb, which informs the rest of the way. You can see the landscape all the time, but the best view is at the top. Caseneuve is a magnificent, typical hilltop village, with an impressive castle and beautiful narrow streets: well worth a visit!
