Useful col, more than it is beautiful. The climb starts (and stays quite long) between buildings. You do have a good view of the valley on your right, but that's all.
Nuttige col, meer dan dat hij mooi is. De klim start (en blijft vrij lang) tussen de bebouwing. Je hebt op je rechterkant wel een goed zicht op de vallei, maar daar blijft het ook bij.
Good running col. And no traffic connection col, so quiet to do. Contrary to the reviews that are still here, this is obviously not the connection between the Col d'Oderen and the Ballon d'Alsace. If you do the climb from this side, you do not really drive up the Col d'Oderen. Actually you use the Col d'Oderen as a descent of the Col du Page. The Col d'Oderen is a bit lower. So if you have reached the top of the Page you descend about one kilometre to the junction with the Col d'Oderen and you drive another 600m false flat to the top. This side of the Page you can use to avoid the terrible traffic heavy climb over the Col du Bussang and head towards the Col du Bramont or to start a side of the Grand Ballon, e.g. the Le Markstein if you come from the Ballon d'Alsace. Just is just, as we say in Antwerp.
Tip: after the descent of the Page/Oderen, you have a cemetery, as always in France, you can fill your water bottles there with drinkable water.
Goed lopende col. En geen verkeersverbindingscol, dus rustig om te doen. In tegenstelling tot de reviews die hier nog staan, is dit uiteraard niet de verbinding tussen de Col d'Oderen en de Ballon d'Alsace. Als je de klim langs deze zijde doet, rij je niet echt de Col d'Oderen op. Eigenlijk gebruik je de Col d'Oderen als afdaling van de Col du Page. De Col d'Oderen ligt iets lager. Dus als je de top van de Page hebt bereikt daal je een kleine kilometer af tot de aansluiting met de Col d'Oderen en rij je nog een goede 600m vals plats naar de top. Deze kant van de Page kan je gebruiken om te verschrikkelijke verkeersdrukke klim over de Col du Bussang te mijden en richting de Col du Bramont te trekken of een kant van de Grand Ballon aan te vatten, b.v. de Le Markstein als je van de Ballon d'Alsace komt. Just ist just, zoals we in Antwerpen zeggen.
Tip: na de afdaling van de Page/Oderen heb je een kerkhof, zoals steeds in Frankrijk kan je daar je drinkbussen vullen met drinkbaar water.
The Col starts in Bussang and works its way through a number of small villages. The road is narrow and climbs quite steeply. The second part is less steep and surrounded by greenery and forest. There is little traffic. Ideal to connect the col d'Oderen with the Ballon d'Alsace.
