Not the most beautiful of slopes, because from Anglefort to the junction with the Culoz road there's no panorama, most of it being undergrowth.
The rest, and especially the end, are well worth the diversions
Not the most beautiful, but far from the easiest. The 34x28 was the right size!
The first half of the climb is quite painful. Especially as I climbed in the fog and mist. So I won't talk about the landscape and the view at the top. I will come back to see what is to be seen. In any case, it's a pass to do, that's for sure.
Tough climb but very rewarding. Left early. Almost at the top, the view unfolded. Green surroundings. The steep descent to Artemare is tricky. Better via the less steep route
Zware klim maar zeer de moeite waard. Vroeg vertrokken. Bijna boven ontvouwd zich het uitzicht. Groene omgeving. De steile afdaling naar Artemare is link. Beter via de minder steile route
Heavy climb. After 10 km it flattens out and you can go to the top reasonably relaxed.
Descent on the other side to Artemare is dangerous. Better to go via Lochieu. Less steep descent.
Zware klim.
Done on 17-09-2018 it was a hot sunny day, that made the climb tough especially because it was hard to find some cooling in the shade. The road is mostly N S v.v. Which means that at noon the sun is right above you! So here's my tip: On a hot day leave before 9 o'clock or around 1400 hours then you have nice shade of the trees. Greetings Bas
Groetjes Bas
