L'itinéraire classique de retour du Trièves vers Monestier. La montée est découpée en trois portions distinctes, la première en lacets avec des pentes soutenues pour s'extirper du vallon de l'Ebron, puis des pentes plus douces en s'approchant de Roissard. Le final est un peu plus pentu mais reste roulant jusqu'au col de Fau. La montée peut s'avérer compliquée quand le vent est présent, ce qui est assez fréquent.
