A beautiful climb through the woods, with some lovely views! However, beware of the gravel on the road, which spoils the fun a little... Otherwise, the climb is not difficult and none of the sections are really steep. Not my favourite climb in the region, but definitely one you should add to your list!
Une très belle ascension dans les bois qui offre quelques jolis points de vue ! Attention néanmoins aux gravillons sur la route qui gâchent un peu le plaisir... Sinon, la montée n'est pas difficile, aucun passage n'est vraiment raide. Pas ma montée favorite de la région, mais sans aucun doute une que vous devez ajouter à votre tableau de chasse !
There is a fourth, very nice climb: from Ambert a few km on the D996, then diagonally left on the D57; after Valleyre, turn left on the D57 until it joins the D106 just before Valcivières. This route is considerably longer than the D106 from Ambert but slightly less steep, climbing to 1018 mtr before descending to the D106.
Er is nog een vierde, erg mooie beklimming: vanuit Ambert een paar km op de D996, dan schuin linksaf de D57; na Valleyre linksaf de D57 volgen tot die juist vóór Valcivières uitkomt op de D106. Deze route is aanzienlijk langer dan de D106 vanuit Ambert maar iets minder steil, klimt tot 1018 mtr alvorens af te dalen naar de D106.
You can reach the Col des Supeyres either via Saint Anthème, from Pèghes or from Ambert.
For me, this Col is one of the most beautiful to do in Forez, if not the most beautiful. The scenery is varied and magnificent throughout the three climbs, and the view from the top is magnificent, with the Puy de Dôme in the distance.
The road is good and the traffic fairly calm for the three alternatives.
My preference would be for the climb from Ambert, which is more demanding in sporting terms, but all three are very interesting.
Vous pouvez accéder au Col des Supeyres soit par Saint Anthème, soit au départ de Pèghes, soit au départ d'Ambert.
Ce Col est pour moi un des plus beaux a faire dans le Forez, si ce n'est le plus beau. Des paysages variés et magnifiques tout le long des trois ascensions et une vue magnifique au sommet, on peut apercevoir le Puy de Dôme.
La route est bonne et le trafic routier plutôt calme pour les trois alternatives.
Ma préférence irait à l'ascension qui part d'Ambert car plus exigeante sportivement, mais les trois sont très intéressantes.
