The Col des Quatre Vios from Saint-Pierreville is a beautiful climb in the Ardèche that you absolutely must experience. It is a challenging but accessible route for cyclists, with a perfect balance between exertion and enjoyment.
During the climb, you are surrounded by breathtaking scenery. A special moment for me was when I spent two minutes chasing two little deer, gracefully running up the mountain - a magical experience. The route also takes you past a charming little castle, which adds an extra touch of charm to the ride. The recently paved road makes for a smooth climb, while the shelter along the route protects you from the sun on many parts of the climb.
After reaching the summit at 1149 metres, however, more beauty awaits you. As you continue your way towards the Col de Fayolle, you get the chance to enjoy minutes of breathtaking panoramic views. As you drive along the ridge, surrounded by mountains and valleys, it seems like you can admire the landscape from all sides. The descent over the ridge is a unique experience that makes this trip an unforgettable one, where you are completely absorbed in the beauty of nature around you.
De Col des Quatre Vios vanuit Saint-Pierreville is een prachtige klim in de Ardèche die je absoluut moet ervaren. Het is een uitdagende maar toegankelijke route voor wielrenners, met een perfecte balans tussen inspanning en genieten.
Tijdens de klim word je omringd door adembenemende natuur. Een bijzonder moment voor mij was toen ik twee minuten lang achter twee kleine hertjes aanreed, die sierlijk de berg op renden – een magische ervaring. De route voert je ook langs een charmant kasteeltje, wat een extra vleugje charme toevoegt aan de rit. De recent geasfalteerde weg zorgt voor een soepele klim, terwijl de beschutting langs de route je op veel delen van de klim beschermt tegen de zon.
Na het bereiken van de top op 1149 meter hoogte, wacht je echter nog meer moois. Als je je weg vervolgt richting de Col de Fayolle, krijg je de kans om minutenlang te genieten van adembenemende panoramische uitzichten. Terwijl je over de bergkam rijdt, omringd door bergen en valleien, lijkt het alsof je het landschap van alle kanten kunt bewonderen. De afdaling over de bergrug is een unieke ervaring die deze tocht tot een onvergetelijke belevenis maakt, waarbij je volledig opgaat in de schoonheid van de natuur om je heen.
