Despite the fact that it is only about 7 km climbing, it is a beast of a climb. Heavier and more beautiful than the Colombière. It reminds me of the Col de Cenise. But more erratic. Expect to encounter sections of 15 % mph on a regular basis. And the last part up to the pass is really hard work. But that is what makes this Col so beautiful when you reach the top.

Done on June 7, 2014 , The start of the climb is at the low point of Grand-bornand then you have to go through the village completely direction valley of Bouchet, hamlet of plans.
The approach is done in slopes allowing a progressive warming up on 4,5Km until the circuit of Golf and a small chapel, a wooden sign indicates on your left " Col des Annes ".
There are about 6,5Km left: The already steep start is only the beginning of the menu that awaits you, a few brief passages in the shade and then steep and regular gradients that will last for 2.5Km until a small wooden bridge; The route then winds through the mountain pastures until it reaches the summit, which you will soon see. There are still almost 4 km to go, with no hairpin bends, no shade and very irregular, steep to very steep slopes.
After the chapel of Duche, there will be about 2KM left, gutters cross the road but they are not a problem during the ascent, but you will have to be careful on the descent.
The last 200 meters are explosive % very-very strong on a very bumpy asphalt that makes the front wheel bounce, arrival at the top 1721M on a small parking lot in pebbles or there is barely room to bring down the pulses.
The landscapes are really beautiful and make you forget (a little) the intensity of the effort.
Ps: In spite of what I could read on certain sites, the road is largely practicable with a road bike, certainly it is a small mountain road with some stones, gravel and crossings on the final part, but I saw much worse.
Good ride and be careful
