The first 2 km are currently covered in loose gravel but after that it was a pleasant ride to the top. We descend the other side to Udaye - very technical and lots of hairpins!
Rode today 30/5/24: fresh gravel unrideable in first 2.5km after turn off from main road. bitumen thereafter but not great surface. quiet and picturesque lane. second last km very tough; road sign says 12％. nice views along the climb but none at the actual top of col. challenging descent down the narrow steep side with 23 hairpins on rather bad cracked surface with a bit of loose gravel!
I think I prefer the high relief on the slope, but this one is still very interesting. This little pass isn't so easy. The steep parts at the end hurt. The passage through the forest is very beautiful. So are the views over the lake. The road winds and is quite bumpy. Yes, like the other side.
Je crois que je préfère l’haut-relief versant mais celui ci reste très intéressant. Ce petit col n’est pas si facile. Les parties raides de la fin font mal. Le passage dans la forêt est très beau. Les vues sur le lac aussi. La route serpente et est assez bosselée. Oui, à faire comme l’autre versant .

Quiet climb with shady sections. Very few cars. The last few kilometres are merciless.

Of all the passes I've done this one is my favourite, climbed 4 times and really a great time, the climb isn't particularly hard but the last two kilometres are quite difficult. Almost no cars and very few people crossed, a real happiness
Parmi les cols que j’ai fait celle ci est ma favorite, montée faite 4 fois et vraiment un super moment, la montée est pas spécialement dur mais les deux derniers kilomètres assez difficile. Presque aucune voiture et très peu de personnes croisées, un vrai bonheur
Description is perfectly correct, a steep bitch, after the exit of the wide road. Descent is not great because of many hairpin bends and worse road surface, especially with rim brakes. At the end of the descent turn right to Le Sauze Du Lac, a steep climb on a wide road. From the village (water point at restaurant!) Beautiful descent back to Savine le Lac!
Beschrijving klopt perfect, een steil kreng, na de afslag van de brede weg. Afdaling is door vele haarspeldbochten en slechter wegdek niet geweldig, zeker niet met velgremmen. Onderaan rechtsaf geslagen naar Le Sauze Du Lac, pittig klimmetje over brede weg. Vanaf het dorp ( waterpunt bij restaurant!) prachtige afdaling terug naar Savine le Lac !
The high percentages are alternated with small slopes that allow you to breathe a little afterwards, but you can feel it going by at the 7th km!
Les pourcentages élevés se relaient avec des petits replats qui permettent de souffler un peu après ça n'empêche que le 7ème km on le sent passer !

Cycled up both sides of the short steep Col de Pontis in August 2018.
This north side, thanks to the false flat approach on the busy wide road starting from Savines Le Lac, has a lower average gradient. But do not underestimate it. After the turn left the narrow bumpy road goes uphill. Indeed, especially after the village of Pontis, a murderous fairly straight 12％ stretch follows along steep cliffs and with a unique panoramic view of the blue-green lake of Serre Ponçon deep below.
The highest point is a narrow road with only a sign.
Like the other side of the climb, there are also cycling signs that give climb％ with two numbers but the road surface is
is better and there are only a few hairpin bends.
This side of the Col de Pontis is also a tough climbing challenge that you should definitely cycle for the fantastic views!
In Augustus 2018 de beide zijden van de korte steile Col de Pontis op gefietst.
Deze noordzijde heeft, dankzij de vals plat aanloop op de drukke brede weg vertrekkend uit Savines Le Lac, een lager gemiddelde stijgingspercentage. Maar onderschat hem niet. Na de afslag links gaat de smalle hobbelige verkeersarme route stevig bergop. Vooral na het dorp Pontis volgt inderdaad een moordend vrij recht stuk aan 12％ langs steile rotswanden en met een uniek panoramisch zicht op het blauw groen meer van Serre Ponçon diep onder.
Het hoogste punt is een smalle weg waar alleen een bord staat.
Net zoals de andere klimzijde zijn er ook fietsinfobordjes die klim％ geven met twee cijfers maar het wegdek
is beter en er zijn maar enkele haarspeldbochten.
Ook deze zijde van de Col de Pontis is een stevige klim uitdaging die je zeker moet fietsen voor de fantastische uitzichten!
Beautiful and varied with magnificent views. A modest col sign for the effort made. Super quiet. The descent is also nice.
Fraai en afwisselend met prachtige uitzichten. Een bescheiden colbordje voor de geleverde inspanning. Super rustig. De afdaling is ook leuk .
This morning I first drove to Avignes Le Lac and started from there. First part is a nice warming up, when you turn left the climb really starts with 10%. One part goes through a nice piece of forest and then you get to the village of Pontis. After the village the climb really starts with sections of over 12%. Through the sweat drops you can enjoy a beautiful view. A must if you're in the neighborhood.
Vanmorgen eerst naar Avignes Le Lac gereden en van daaruit begonnen. Eerste stuk is een mooie warming up, als je linksaf slaat begint de beklimming pas echt met meteen 10%. Een stuk gaat door een mooi stukje bos en dan kom je in het dorpje Pontis. Na het dorp begint de klim pad echt met stukjes van boven de 12%. Door de zweetdruppels Kun je van een mooi uitzicht genieten. Een aanrader als je in de buurt bent.
A real little steep monster that Pontis, you get nowhere in a really good rhythm. A real must!

Very beautiful, very diverse (landscape and difficulty level), and secretly not that easy at all. Highly recommended! But not really long. Nice to do in a ride to do. Note that the descent is not really easy on any side.
Erg mooi, erg afwisselend (landschap en moeilijkheidsgraad), en stiekem helemaal niet zo makkelijk. Een aanrader! Maar niet echt lang. Leuk om in een rit erbij te doen. Let wel op de afdaling is aan geen enkele kant echt makkelijk.
