From La Bâtie-Neuve it is already announced that the "Col de Manse Ouvert" is open. That adds to the pleasure of the climb. The climb itself always goes in the same wind direction, but always swings with short bends left and right. That makes it hard to read the route: where you are exactly on the climb is hard to determine. Because of the short bends, the slope is quite irregular and sometimes reaches the 9-10％. At the top it is quite open and bare and the (North) wind can blow against you. Just after the top you descend again slightly to a roundabout. It seemed as if I had missed the sign with the Col de Manse, but it is on the road to the left a little further on the roundabout. Apparently there is the real col. If you go right on top the road keeps rising towards Ancelle.
Vanuit La Bâtie-Neuve wordt al aangekondigd dat de “Col de Manse Ouvert” is. Dat draagt al bij aan het klimplezier. De klim zelf gaat steeds in de zelfde windrichting, maar slingert steeds met korte bochten links rechts. Dat maakt dat de route moeilijk te lezen is: waar je precies op de klim zit is moeilijk vast te stellen. Door de korte bochten is de helling vrij onregelmatig en komt soms op de 9-10％. Bovenop is het vrij open en kaal en kan de (Noorden)wind tegenblazen. Net na de top Daal je weer licht naar een rotonde. Het leek als ik het bordje met de Col de Manse had gemist, maar deze staat even verderop op de weg naar links op de rotonde. Daar is blijkbaar de echte col. Als je bovenop rechts gaat blijft de weg stijgen richting Ancelle.
