I found it a nice climb and quite long for this region. Pretty constant 7%. I didn't think the road surface was bad. No holes or cracks, but quite rough asphalt and that takes some extra energy. The climb starts a bit earlier, namely in the valley near the bridge from where you have a beautiful view of fortified town and castle ruins of Ternand (photo). Climb then passes the entrance gate of Ternant, which is well worth a visit. Last descending km's as shown by CF can be taken off. You have then really had the col.
