Not a very difficult climb. I found the road to be very narrow, which made the ascent and descent dangerous. There's no heavy traffic but some drivers drive quite fast. Nice view from the top.
Montée sans grande difficulté. Je trouve que la route est très étroite ce qui rend la montée et la redescente dangereuses. Il n'y a pas de trafic intense mais certains conducteurs roulent assez vite. Belle vue au sommet.
Quiet climb sheltered by surrounding mountain sides and trees. Only the middle is just a bit steeper but nowhere insurmountable. At the top, you have a very nice view and a quick clear descent ahead.
Rustige klim beschut door omringende bergflanken en bomen. Enkel het midden is net iets steiler maar nergens onoverkomelijk. Op de top heb je een heel mooi uitzicht en een snelle overzichtelijke afdaling voor de boeg.
Nice and quiet climb. The road is narrow and in reasonable condition. At the top, you drive through a small tunnel after which there are beautiful views. The climb is never really steep which makes it pleasant climbing.
PS: watch out for donkeys on the track
Mooie en rustige klim. De weg is smal en in redelijke staat. Op de top rij je door een tunneltje waarna er een prachtig uitzicht volgt. De klim is nooit echt steil wat het aangenaam klimmen maakt.
PS: Pas op voor ezels op de baan
The Col de l'Asclier is not particularly difficult apart from its length (which requires a minimum of stamina) and its gravelly surface is not the best. The last two kilometres are the steepest, but the plateau before you get there gives you a chance to catch your breath.
The road is very narrow but there are very few vehicles.
The climb from l'Estrechure is largely through woodland, which provides welcome shade in hot weather.
The summit is topped by a rare and astonishing sheep bridge, once used by transhumant herds.
The descent, which is less wooded, offers magnificent panoramic views.
Le col de l’Asclier ne présente pas de difficulté particulière si ce n’est sa longueur (qui nécessite d’avoir un minimum d’endurance) et son revêtement granuleux n’est pas des meilleurs. Les deux derniers kilomètres sont les plus raides mais le replat avant d’y arriver permet de souffler.
La route est très étroite mais les véhicules sont très rares.
La montée depuis l’Estrechure se fait en bonne partie en forêt ce qui apporte une ombre très appréciable par temps chaud.
Le sommet est coiffé d’un rare et étonnant pont moutonnier qui servait autrefois au passage des troupeaux en transhumance.
La descente, moins arborée offre des panoramas magnifiques.
