Up to the Col du Kreuzweg, this climb is roughly the first half of the ascent of Champ du Feu from Andlau (20km in all and 950m). It starts out flat, steepens as you approach the Hohwald and then becomes easier again.
This is also the busiest part of the ascent to Champ du Feu.
After the Kreuzweg, continue along the D57 and the Col de la Charbonnière towards the Champ du Feu: from here the gradient is 7% (9% after the Charbonnière).
The road has recently been resurfaced and is good.
NB: the Charbonnière sector is undergoing works from the end of September to mid-October 2024.

A fairly straightforward climb, with little traffic and mostly on new tarmac. The route is pleasant because it is close to several points of interest and is almost entirely in woodland.
At the summit, there is a viewpoint over the Villé valley.
