This is a beautiful climb which gives you coming from the Alps some rest to the legs. No steep percentages, but just 10 kilometers gradually uphill. The climb leads through a not too wide road through the forest, but still you have little shade. It can be hot though. The road surface is reasonable although there is a lot of loose gravel. So watch out when descending. On top of the pass you are treated to a fantastic view into the valley. The first (ice cold) water point is in Barcillonnette.
