One of my favourite climbs across the Clwydians, this one is not a brutal as nearby Moel Arthur or "the old Bwlch" (Bwlch Penbarras) as there is only one proper steep bit and the rest enables a seated if long & low gear effort. No views but pretty through a forest on generally good surfaces, plus usually v quiet. It steepens a little more in the last bit after a bit of an s bend but as soon as the trees start to dissappear, the gradient slackens. The descent is not great initially, be careful, it's narrow, a few twists & certainly, gravel. As the first bit of the descent flattens, better to take a right and descend more easily to Nannerch that way then do another short & steep kicker and then descend more steeply to Nannerch as it's quieter & better surfaced - and you avoid a hill!
