If you are in the area on holiday a perfect climb to do from your hotel/resort for a short workout. The start is less fun as you first drive through the busy streets of the costa. Once past the motorway it gets equally steep and with a lot of traffic. When you pass Mijas the reward comes. The traffic dies away, especially when you pass by the quarry, where no car traffic is allowed (except destination traffic). You now have the road to yourself for the last 5km. These are not the easiest kilometres though as the gradients no longer drop below 10%. At first you cycle through forests typical of the region, towards the end it becomes open and you have more and more views. The view at the top is just fantastic. Unfortunately, at the top there is nothing but a closed gate, a terrace would be welcome. Be careful on the descent as it is steep and winding at first, then there is traffic again.

Quite hard climb because of the gradient. The last 5km are on a road that cars are not allowed on and the views are beautiful,
