Feb 2024. A nice climb, not too long. Total time: 54:49. The view at the end is very nice!! I have taken a route from Melia Torremolinos, up to the start of this final climb quite some traffic. You will find a chain at the start of the climb, as on this track there are no cars allowed. 👍 You might see some hikers and descending bikes on the track so stay right. Tarmac/road is very good, so descending is fine.
Some parts are indicated by my Garmin (830) as 12%…..so be prepared😉
Dec 2023, the last few kilometres are no longer accessible. The road to the antennas is for automated traffic only.
However, you can still turn left and climb to a dirt car park with helicopter pad. Definitely worth it
Hi, I’m pretty sure that by „no longer accessible” you were talking about the chain at the beginning of the steep final part. I believe cyclists are still allowed to go around it as I’ve been there yesterday and also saw two other cyclists. Two service cars passed us on the way to the antennas and ignored us so I’m pretty sure for cyclists the road is still open.
Made a beautiful tour from Benalmadena and through Fuengirola to Alahaurin and back through Mijas and the cerro del moro. You can see from afar all the antennas on top of the mountain and you wonder how you get there. Just outside Mijas the climb starts and from there it is 600 hm and 5 km. So the profile is not right. It is more like a Mortirolo. Good road, nice views, nature and nothing else. When you arrive at the top you have a view of the whole area. The descent I would take it easy. Missing a turn is not an option here, and there are no guardrails.
