Castle Hill from Brockworth

Probably the hardest short climb I have done in years, extra tough if you choose to throw in the lower climb up to the main road which itself ramps up to 15％ at times.

Take whatever breath you get waiting to cross the A road, after turning right you’ll see what looks like a sheer left hand corner. The road surface is fine on the left hand side (rather unhelpfully) so expect your gradient readings to hit the high 30s (38.8％ on mine) as you avoid wheel slippage. The following 20％ corners will feel doable after this one, and it does ease off towards the top, so you can leave it all out there!

Brutal climb, quiet roads, and comes with a much less severe descent so you don’t even have to experience the nightmare road surface on the way down! Completed on a red hot summers day - I expect the road will be un rideable in the wet or cold weather…

This climb consists of a small single track road on the edge of a housing estate, which then continues onto a tarmac edge footpath which is wide and sheltered through trees, before opening up again onto another single track road which gradually gets steeper towards the top amd the junction to the main road. The start of the climb and the footpath section cause no issues, and only the slight ramp at the end of the second section of single track road is a little steep, but again, no real issues. The real issues start when you cross over the main road and start the climb upto the top of Coopes Hill. Then youre5 talking g 20-25% gradients!
