One of my favourite climbs in the UK - brilliant road surface, the gradient is just right for a proper effort and the views from the top are spot on. Part of the 'Cingles du Bwlch', the tryptic of climbs to the top.
The start is marked by a big sign with climb details and it's nearly three miles of pure climbing joy; never too hard but enough to bite if you push too much.
Views across the valley are great and it's just a lovely place to be on a bicycle. It can see some traffic (it's a passage over to Port Talbot) but the road is wide and visibility good that there's rarely any conflict.
This way you don't get to the actual top; you arrive at the viewing point and can see down the valley to Treherbert, but if you want to go to the highest point then take the left turning (to Port Talbot), through the big rock gap and head to the radio tower across the moor. This part if flatter but often really windy.
Be careful if you descend the way you came, as there are several cattlegrids and sometimes loose rocks.
