Nice climb, not long but nice on the pedals for a while. Unfortunately, during the summer season, there is a busy access road to the campsite on the other side of the hill, so with a bit of bad luck, you have to climb at walking pace behind a car-caravan ombination...
Leuke klim, niet lang maar wel even lekker op de pedalen. In het zomerseizoen helaas wel een drukke toegangsweg naar de camping aan de andere kant van de heuvel, dus met een beetje pech moet je stapvoets achter een auto-caravancombinatie naar boven...
They are good at exaggerating on Texel. That 10％ on that road sign must surely have to deter people with campers and caravans. It does make a nice 'sprint pustule': full on with the big blade!
Climbs on the Wadden Islands are already rare, so definitely add this one to a round of Texel (besides the lighthouse and the Hoge Berg). Unfortunately, you have to pass through or past the hideous tourist trap De Koog to do so. If you take the cycle path along Ruijslaan and then Boodtlaan, you'll avoid most of it.
Ze zijn op Texel goed in overdrijven. Die 10％ op dat verkeersbord zal vast mensen met campers en caravans moeten afschrikken. Het is wel een lekkere 'sprintpuist': vol erop met het grote blad!
Beklimmingen op de Waddeneilanden zijn al zeldzaam, dus voeg deze zeker toe aan een ronde van Texel (naast de vuurtoren en de Hoge Berg). Helaas moet je daarvoor wel door of langs de afgrijselijke toeristenval De Koog. Als je het fietspad langs de Ruijslaan en daarna de Boodtlaan neemt vermijd je het grootste deel daarvan.
