There are far too many vehicles to make this a pleasant climb.
You can "take refuge" on the small strip of tarmac that is normally reserved for pedestrians. I didn't come across a single pedestrian.

Vous pouvez vous « réfugier » sur la petite bande de goudron qui est en principe réservée aux piétons. Je n’ai pas croisé un seul piéton.
