A very pleasant climb, short but with no respite. The surface is good, there is very little traffic and the views on the way up and in the village of Artigue are nice.

My first climb ever. From our campsite we have a view of the village of Sode, halfway up the mountain on the other side of the valley. After a rainy morning, I decide to take my chances and cycle over there.
One more shower and it stays dry. The ascent itself is tough, especially the first half with the hairpins, but even with my limited experience and my rural bike gear I manage to reach the end of the road in the picturesque village of Artigue. There is little traffic and the road surface is well maintained. The views from Artigue are the icing on the cake.

Mijn eerste klim ooit.

In addition to the classics Peyresourde/Superbagneres/Port de Balès from Bagnères de Luchon, I also cycled up the short, relatively unknown climb to the small town of Artigue.
Approach from tourist spa and cycling city Luchon to the foot of the real climb in Juzet hardly rises.
From the start you cycle directly up the valley slope via 8 fairly short hairpin bends which provide almost continuous double-digit gradients (+10%). The penultimate bend even cuts right through the centre of the small village of Sode.
Second part, the road climbs with long bends through the woods still flirting with double digits climbs to the fantastic panoramic viewpoint of the valley including the snowy high mountains.
Shortly afterwards the route ends in a slight downward slope in the picturesque village with barely thirty inhabitants.

Short but powerful warming-up with hardly any traffic that you definitely have to cycle as a sportive challenge and for the wonderful final panorama!!!!
