One of the hardest climbs in the Alps. 11km at 12% with 1km over 20%. This climb is a serious challenge to anyone who likes long, hard, steep roads. At the end the road kind of peters out by some empty barns with some views over the mountains. There is a refuge at Alpe Cortevecchio at the far side of the hamlet where you can get drinks. The ascent is 1375m over 12.5km from Ornavasso (home to Olympic cyclist Elisa Longo Borghini). The road after Boden is closed, so very little traffic. Think ... read more

The run-up is beautiful. On the steep part 20% + after 7km the road surface is bad with men der holes and loose stones. and slippery. With a road bike with normal profile not doable!
Turned the bike after a km run and rode the descent very carefully at walking pace.

The road is pot holed after the hamlet of Bedomye
