This climb is a nice way to get to Königstein. Apart from a short kicker behind Fischbach, the gradient is moderate; on the right through the orchards you have a very beautiful view, including of the former Zauberberg clinic.

Fischbach - Rupperthain (Kelkheim)

Nice climb that starts in Fischbach. If you come from Eppstein - fortunately the version with two p's :o) - that bit also runs slightly uphill.
The climb is quite manageable and there is moderate traffic. Low-traffic streets I have not yet come across around here. The summit is officially just past Rupperthain, but once you're through the village you've done most of the work. That last bit is just false flat.

On the way, you have a nice view of a huge building built against the mountainside. It is a former clinic but now the building is called Zauberberg and has various functions. Google it I would say. Then you will immediately see where you are cycling to.

When I rode there, there were roadworks in the village of Rupperthain, blocking the road. They then send you in and out of the village via a diversion. That dive and climb happen at percentages between 12% and 15%. That did take me out of my rhythm for a while. But for the better climbers, I suppose that won't be a problem. The road surface on the descent is no billiard sheet but certainly above standard.

Fischbach - Rupperthain (Kelkheim)
