The Missenden Wall is no place for road bikes. I've ridden up it on my mountain bike, and failed to ride up it on a road bike (due to tree debris). I've also crashed going down it on a road bike, because fallen leaves were covering a lip in the surface. But going down on a road bike you're likely to be locked up on the back and close to locking up on the front when it's anything other than dry. It's only really passable on a road bike in the summer months, and then you still need dry conditions - and low gears. A gravel bike might be a good option. However, don't bother, go up Frith Hill instead.

Can confirm it is indeed a wall. Narrow and steep. Clearly a cycle lane designed by someone who doesn’t ride bikes. From the second tunnel the steepest section begins. Fortunately it isn’t very long.
