Going up the bike path from Capolago to the Casbeno center of Varese, passing through the locality for me was a real surprise. You start from the Porticciolo street turning onto a flat, natural-bottomed road that then becomes bitumen. You cross fields and meadows zizzing through nature on a narrow ribbon of asphalt. After passing a series of farmsteads, the road begins to steepen in a very pronounced way, i lt is aggravated by the presence of a barrier that prevents cars from passing. This is a ... read more

This is a very challenging 400-500 meters with gradients of 15% for fairly long stretches. Be careful to manage well on this section that may also have debris and leaves in the fall season. At the sight of the second bar, in the vicinity of the'entrance onto a small road open to traffic, the gradient returns "human" and will remain so for the rest of the climb until the stop on Via Sant'Antonio. It's basically a parallel climb to that of the ronchi (also ridden at the 2008 World Championships in Varese) and is also an'alternative to the Via dei Boderi climb, which again from the Capolago-Cartabbia road climbs to Viale Europa in Varese, having the advantage of passing over traffic-free lanes and the privilege of the hard section on a small road closed to vehicular traffic. On strava the segment is called "ciclabile dei ronchi"
