Pretty tough climb that leads, among other places, to the Landal holiday park in Gargellen. The steepest part only starts at the turn-off towards the holiday park. As usual in Austria, the road consists of wide and good tarmac and ends at a hotel.

Vrij pittige klim die onder meer leidt naar het Landal vakantiepark in Gargellen. Het steilste stuk begint pas aan de afslag richting vakantiepark. De weg bestaat zoals gebruikelijk in Oostenrijk uit breed en goed asfalt en eindigt bij een hotel.

I rode this climb mid July and continued on to the Bielerhöhe as a wider Montafon ride. It is a lovely road that climbs steeply from St Gallenkirch, then winds its way along the valley to Gargellen and then climbs steeply to the end of the valley where the road ends at around 1600m altitude.
The road surface is great throughout, even the end bit has been redone, traffic was light as I was riding early but it was cold for July. It is a darkish valley and takes time to warm up.
Overall, great to include a wider Montafon ride.

Nice climb, good start to a few days cycling in the Montafon. After the valley station in St. Gallenkirch at 900m, the start is a bit tough, with a few steep climbs. Then it goes up in a serpentine way without hairpin bends to Gargellen at approx. 1450m. If you continue out of the village, you can cycle up to an old hotel in Vergalden at 1600m, the road gets narrower, worse and certainly steeper (quite tough) but then you finish the climb. Descending back to the start in St. Gallenkirch is wonderfully relaxed as the tarmac is very good and the road wide and clear.

Mooie klim, goed begin van een paar dagen fietsen in Montafon. Na het dalstation in st. Gallenkirch op 900m. is het begin meteen even pittig, een paar bochten flink klimmen. Daarna gaat het al kronkelend zonder haarspeldbochten omhoog naar Gargellen op ca. 1450m. Als je door fietst het dorp uit, kun je tot een oud hotel Vergalden doorfietsen tot 1600m hoogte, de weg wordt smaller, slechter en zeker steiler (best pittig) maar dan maak je de klim wel helemaal af. Afdalen terug naar het begin in st. Gallenkirch is heerlijk ontspannen doordat het asfalt zeer goed is en de weg breed en overzichtelijk.
