It is recommended to do both ways t/r Valldal - Åndalsnes. The descent the other way from the top towards Valldal is top notch.

I got lucky with the weather - the only day it did not rain. A fantastic long climb from Norddalsfjorden and the small village Valldal up to the back of Trollstigen. Fantastic nature and scenery. The climb itself was not that hard. Make sure to stock up with all you need to drink and eat. Thera are no shops or anything on the way up. On the top, there is a tourist center for Trollstigen.
