For such a small area Hope Mountain has a lot of climbs - mostly steep and punchy. The two crossing the northern end - this climb from the west, and its counterpart from the east are the easiest ascents but still hit double digits (there are no easy climbs here). This climb is mostly enclosed by hedgerows and the road is generally ok except for a section of broken tarmac, grit and other detritus (slippery leaves etc) on the steeper section near the top. Once over the top there is a wide view over the Cheshire Plain, Dee Estuary and Wirral Peninsula.
