Short and sharp climb, with the steepest gradients in the first 500m. After the Fritchley turn off the gradient is much easier. Decent road surface all the way up. Road can get busy at times, particularly as you get near the village but it's hardly a problem. The climb on here ends in the village centre but I would wholeheartedly recommend continuing up the road past the Black Swan to Crich Momument, which offers fabulous 360° views for miles, and a café/tea rooms. There is another, arguably tougher climb up to Crich from the Family Tree at Whatstandwell up Hindersitch Lane.
