One of a kind! Famous for the canyon (cool even in spring) but stupendous even more in the hairpin bends between mini tunnels in the first 2/3 km. Fabulous glimpses and wonderful views alternate. Beware that I had missed it could not be done downhill. I had to climb back up and stretch towards Limone (if you want you can climb about 400m of elevation gain going down to Gargnano. High marks as I rarely get them! Worth a try even though to get there there are the three terrible lakefront tunnels, coming from Desenzano
Unica nel suo genere! Famosa per il canyon (fresco anche se in primavera) ma stupenda ancora di più nei tornanti tra mini gallerie dei primi 2/3 km. Si alternano squarci favolosi e panorami stupendi. Attenzione che mi era sfuggito non si potesse fare in discesa. Ho dovuto risalire e allungare verso Limone (volendo si può salire circa 400m di dislivello scendendo a Gargnano. Massimi voti come raramente mi capita! Da provare anche se per arrivarci ci sono le tre terribili gallerie del lungolago, provenienza Desenzano

Since August 2025, it has been exclusively uphill again and is a real highlight in the area. After the turn-off from the Gardesana, the Strada della Forra winds its way along the rock at a pleasant gradient (mostly 5-7％). The large tunnel (650m) can be bypassed on the old road. This is in poor condition, but still passable on a road bike and there are always stones on the ground. The view is magnificent. After bypassing the tunnel, the route leads through a spectacular gorge to a restaurant, from where oncoming traffic is to be expected again. This is where the exciting part of the road ends. From here, there are a further 100-250 metres to climb in any direction, albeit at a very gentle gradient.
Seit August 2025 wieder ausschließlich bergauf befahrbar und ein echtes Highlight in der Gegend. Nach der Abzweigung von der Gardesana schlängelt sich die Strada della Forra in angenehmer Steigung (meistens 5-7％) den Fels entlang. Das große Tunnel (650m) kann auf der alten Straße umfahren werden. Diese ist in schlechtem Zustand, mit dem Rennrad trotzdem befahbar und es liegen immer wieder Steine auf dem Boden. Die Aussicht ist dafür grandios. Nach der Tunnelumfahrung geht es durch eine spektakuläre Schlucht hin zu einem Restaurant, ab dem dann wieder mit Gegenverkehr zu rechnen ist. Hier endet der spannende Part der Strada. Ab hier sind egal in welche Richtung weitere 100-250hm zu bewältigen, allerdings bei sehr geinger Steigung.
Ascent is fine. First section through longest tunnel, then some twists and turns through a canyon. Nowhere really steep. Arrives in Pieve, a pretty village. From there you can continue to Vesio and even further to Campi. By now you are at 650m and have beautiful views of Lake Garda
Beklimming is prima te doen. Eerste stuk door wat langere tunnel, daarna wat draaien en keren door een canyon. Nergens echt steil. Ik was er rond 9 uur in ochtend; dan nog niet erg druk. Klim komt uit in Pieve, mooi plaatsje. Vandaar kun je doorklimmen naar Vesio en nog verder naar Campi. Inmiddels zit je op 650m en heb je prachtig uitzicht over Gardameer
