Nice climb, especially thanks to the different bends and therefore more than worthwhile. There are relatively few oncoming vehicles because most people take the Brusselsesteenweg or the Heidestraat to descend. This is indeed the only real Sigarenberg!... read more

Very nice climb with little traffic. Nice curves and afterwards you can do a fine short descent.

It is reasonably quiet but you should not come here for the views. Nowhere really heavy.

Nergens echt zwaar.

Nice climb around Leuven. You don't need it for the views, but it is pleasant riding between the houses. Also fine as a descent by the way. You end up on a major road.

Mooie beklimming rondom Leuven.

Very even climb, never steep or heavy (unless you have done it several times on your route).
You can turn right at the top just before the road and descend immediately, but beware of the narrow bend that you immediately encounter!

The only real classic Sigarenberg route starts in front of the church in Winksele and winds uphill through the villa district without any extremes until it reaches the Brussels stone road. There, on the corner, used to be the tavern "Sigaar", which explains a lot.
There is only local traffic because it is a dead-end street that, at the top, only allows cyclists and walkers to pass.
The climb has become famous among cycling enthusiasts because it has been the subject of several challenges.
Professional cyclist Victor Campenaerts, who lived nearby, set the tone by cycling up it 100X in a row (August 2019). A record that has already been broken by others, but Vocsnor still has the fastest climbing time (KOM Strava) on his record.
During corona times (May 2020), duathlete Seppe Odeyn even did a "Everesting challenge" with his 239 climbs.
For myself, it has been a fixed part of my climbing route for many years.
