Beautiful little road going up along the Marnas. Up to the campsite it is even a pretty wide road, then a lot narrower. Up to where you take a sharp left turn over Marnas, it is only false flat uphill. But after that the gradients are not high on average, but the climb is very irregular with short stretches of 8-10% and almost flat stretches.
Saint Pons is just 2 houses and a little church. It was once larger with more houses and even a school, but in the 19 March 1944 raid against the resistance, these were burnt down and never rebuilt. After Saint Pons follows a few hundred metres straight up where my altimeter over 200m ticked about's 11-12%. A short descent is followed by another short climb to the highest point. The highest point is a bit of an anti-climax as there is nothing except 2 houses.
However, the views are beautiful and the almost total absence of traffic makes this a fine climb for those who like irregular.
