A steep descending of the normal climb from Gemmenich to Vaals. The first part of the climb follows the regular route. After the "red plane" (crossing with RAVeL) you turn right into a small road (further on moderate asphalt) that goes up along a few houses. There follows a slight curve which is flatter and then it goes up considerably ... And then you bump into a zigzag fence. Considering the amount of leaves, this gate is rarely used. The alternative is also a crappy road but because of these gates this is also a crappy thing haha. If those weren't there I'd rather drive it, despite it being steeper

If you follow the cycle path from the Drielandenpunt, the right side through the village looks attractively shorter than the left side(from the map). The tarmac and fence with for the steep section is really jerky! Last metres are very steep where you get away with slipping rear tyres. Then right at the top though, maybe it was the best choice after all 😆.

The gate is rather narrow (and sits on a steep slope) but you can go right around it. You need to have some speed, otherwise the rear wheel will slip to the side. The last part to the main road is the steepest and loose stones can cause a slipping tire. Once you're on the main road it becomes almost flat and it's only a few meters to the top.
Nice steep climb but further I found it has little added value compared to the regular climb. The fence is just too difficult and the tarmac too bad.
