La particularité de cette montée est de démarrer au pied du barrage du Chastang. Après 1 km à 6/7% sur un revêtement de qualité médiocre on arrive en haut du barrage, sur lequel il est possible de rouler. C'est sympa et impressionnant !
Ensuite la montée continue à travers la forêt, le revêtement devient meilleur au fur et à mesure. Il y avait pas mal de feuilles en cette saison, pas trop gênant en montée, mais attention si on l'emprunte en descente.
Un peu avant la mi-parcours il y a un belvédère.
Très peu de circulation ce jour-là (4 voitures qui descendaient).
