Very nice climb in the middle of nowhere. And it shows, because I have been climbing for an hour and I have not seen one car or cyclist. This reveals the danger of this and subsequent climbs along this road: the heat. You should not start in this area without full bottles. In late September I had 2 liters with me and that was just enough. Only in the village of Obejo you can restock. The climb itself is quite tough. Don't be fooled by the average of this climb. The climb itself is quite tough. Don't be fooled by the average of this climb. The first 6 kilometers are very irregular from 4% to 17% and everything in between. Sometimes there is a descent of 100 meters to continue with high percentages.
The road surface is excellent, but I would be careful with those 100+ km/h Andre talks about. The corners are twisters and not wide enough to safely cycle those speeds on this public road.
If you can fix enough water, this climb should definitely be part of your ride! Constantly beautiful views and towards the top it goes up and down. On the other hand, you get a nice and equally beautiful descent ladies.

Erg mooie klim in the middle of nowhere.

Beautiful climb for those who like variety and can stand the heat. The climb has a great road surface and little traffic. It starts with 1km at 8% with parts of 10% followed by a 1km descent at almost the same percentages. Some friends of mine (ex-professionals flirt with 100 km/h). Then 4 km of hard graft with sections up to 15. After 6 km it goes up with a bit of a flat surface and here and there a downhill. But you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings, but make sure you have enough water because there is almost no shade and no possibility of refuelling along the way. This col was regularly put in the course of the round of Andaloesia. Highly recommended for those who love this kind of Puertos.
