Beautiful climb with great views. After Pal begins the toughest part of 6km. The last 3 to 4 km are doable. In mid-May there was still snow, but the road was clear. If you start from Andorra La Vella you still have to climb almost constantly and to the top it is just under 25km!
The climb starts gradually and quietly in busy La Massana. After the turn-off to Arinsal, the real climb begins, where signs indicate every kilometre how steep the coming kilometre is, and how far it is. After Pal with its Romanesque church, it climbs a little steeper and you climb out of the valley over wooded slopes. You pass the turnoff to winter sports area La Caubella and you now climb to the pass Coll de la Botella, passing cable cars on the way. At that pass, you can already see the terminus Port de Cabus in the distance. The climb now also becomes less steep and the road a bit smaller. You gradually climb on to the end of the paved road on the Spanish border. There is a car park here, but nothing else. A path descends towards Spain. Griffon vultures and free-roaming horses could be admired there. All in all, a beautiful climb, almost nowhere really steep with beautiful views and not much traffic after Pal.
Beautiful outing that we did as a couple. The port of Cabus is in my opinion the most beautiful pass in Andorra. The botella restaurant there hothouses superb paella!
To come back to the pass, I think that in a few years the tour will make a nice arrival there. In any case, this is what is whispered in the Andorran city
