To reach Piazzale Garibaldi, I find this the most interesting variant. You start from Trastevere and you'll come across several points of interest: the church of San Pietro in Montorio with its famous "Tempietto di Bramante", the "Ossario Garibaldino" (a mausoleum that remembers the Garibaldine wars in the 19th Century) and the impressive fountain of Acqua Paola.. Classic climb from the heart of Trastevere to the statue of Garibaldi on the Gianicolo hill. Be aware that the first stretch is on quite rough cobblestones (sampietrini). The view from the top is marvelous!
