Tough climb, even more challenging because it was tackled between 1 and 2 p.m. on a hot May day. Being all south-facing and with not always continuous shading, one risks being roasted by the heat and the effort required. I tackled it after climbing from Varzi up to Brallo di Pregola, Passo della Colletta and then up to Mount Lesima summit. This climb allows you to close an ideal loop back through the Lesima plains to Brallo di Pregola and then return to the plains. The small road is paved but not in good condition (it almost looks like an asphalt mule track), the gradients are always over 10% with stretches even over 15%, coming out of Zerba there's no way to refuel with water until Cortebesassi. You pass through completely uninhabited areas, only trees and some nice views of the Boreca stream valley until the Lesima plans where the ordeal ends in a pleasant little valley that then gently descends back to Brallo. Climbfinder's profile is explanatory enough more than many words. Only suggestion: face it in the cool and not in the hottest hours or with already 80km and 1500m of elevation gain in your legs. In certain conditions it can really hurt.
