Piani dei Resinelli from Ballabio

It’s a climb I’ve always really enjoyed. It runs almost entirely through the woods and features a long series of hairpin turns that make the ascent varied and fun.

The first three kilometers are the most challenging, with gradients that require you to find the right pace right away. After that, the climb becomes more even and easier to ride all the way to the summit. The numerous hairpin turns also provide a good opportunity to pick up the pace and take your mind off the effort.

Road conditions vary greatly depending on the time of year, but in general, the road is often quite rough, especially in certain sections. Despite this, it remains one of the most beautiful and distinctive climbs in the Lecco area.

climb made on June 06, 2026 ... it would be a beautiful climb but its value is obliterated by the terrible asphalt .. you are forced to gymkhana between the potholes on the way up and the danger on the way down is really high ...

Ver go gna!!!! The Ascent leads to a tourist resort, with an'excellent opportunity to refuel.
Yet.... Unworthy road surface. Rarely visit such a thing. Municipality get busy if not tourists flee. Great pity because the spatial view but vote two for the asphalt. 15 hairpin bends and slopes close to 9％ very often

Also this is the training climb behind the house, smooth climb, asphalt to be improved, recently (early April 2026) they paved from the 11th hairpin bend up, but it should be paved all the way, downhill the holes are felt. Traffic depends on time of day and day, on summer weekends to avoid

A climb with hairpin bends in the forest, so it is also pleasant in summer and a little protected from the wind in winter. Hard the first few kilometres then more manageable but every now and then you find a few 'wheelies' but nothing impossible. Unfortunately, the road surface is horrible, so extreme caution on the descent.

The climb with its hairpin bends is very beautiful, surrounded by greenery. It is a pity, however, that it is necessary to first pass through Ballabio (before reaching Ballabio, at a very wide bend, there is a very cool fountain) going up from Lecco, with different traffic. It is a satisfying climb and once at the top you can have lunch in several restaurants. PS: then you can go up to the Carlo Porta refuge, with excellent food.

Very pleasant climb, both in terms of gradients and the part immersed in the forest.
For my liking, very busy (and a few too many rare bushwhackers to do you on the side of the road).
Descent however very bad/very mediocre, especially in the first half. Fortunately tackled with very little traffic and thus the possibility of partially choosing less ruined stretches of asphalt.

Beautiful climb... but the descent....parting from Ballabio you turn left and start off immediately hard for 2/3 km, then the gradients become more pedalable, also facilitated by the numerous hairpin bends and the coolness of the surrounding forest (excellent in summer!) Watch out for buses and potholes on the descent! For those coming from Lecco, first there is the Ballabio... in total, a climb of the 1st category!

Good morning, climb made on 6 May 2023. Road in very bad condition, many potholes, dangerous on descent. Traffic of weekend tourists not very careful with cyclists. As a climb it would also be nice but I wouldn't do it again.

Classic Valsassina climb. The hairpin bends and gradient are reminiscent of the first part of the Stelvio from Bormio.
The asphalt is fair. Traffic is only heavy on weekends in the morning (uphill) and in the late afternoon (downhill).
