I did this climb at the end of July early in the morning and the traffic was very light. It has some steep sections but overall it is a lovely little climb that rewards you with a great view over Lake Constance. The road surface is only OK and worth taking extra care on the way down. Definitely a must climb if you are in the area and cycle at Lake Constance. It can easily be integrated into a larger day ride.

Nice climb , fairly tough , road surface in pretty good condition , quiet road hardly any traffic , partly in the forest (shadow) , at the top you have a beautiful view over the bodensee ! I descended via eichenberg , descent is then 11km on a slightly wider road in better condition . Highly recommended if you are in the area.

This is a nice climb if you are cycling around Lake Constance. Take it for a while (I was up in 35 minutes) and you have beautiful views of Lake Constance, you are looking at Germany, Austria and Switzerland all at the same time. In the background the high Alps. The other side of the mountain is also beautiful. From the cable car parking, walk up to the highest point of the Pfänder (1084 m) for the best views of Lake Constance.
Oh yes, the first few km are very steep, so don't start too fast.
