Spicy climb, but one worth ticking off. It starts really steep after which it becomes somewhat gentler. Reminds me mostly of alp d'Huez in terms of the type of climb. No photos taken 🥵... read more

Better traffic than on the other side of Passo Giau. The panorama is more open here and there is a lot of sun in the afternoon. The quality of the road is great. There are 25 hairpins to the top. They are numbered…

10/10 The does rank in the top 3 best climbs I have done in this area. A continuous nasty, but still doable, gradient. The toughest/steepest part is fortunately in the beginning of Passo Giau but after that you can find a nice pace. The bridges bring some relief in terms of percentage. The road surface is good and there is a lot less traffic than on other roads in the area. As you approach the summit, the impressive 'stone' suddenly looms up, mightily beautiful!

The first part you drive through a valley. Here it was pretty quiet. It does contain a tunnel/galleria where a light is desirable (good to have lights on your bike in this area anyway). By the way, this section is also quite irregular, until you get to the hairpin turns before the village. Here there is a shop and restaurant where you can get your last supplies before starting the real thing ;)
