Ascended today May 01, 2026 and returned to Lecco from Valsassina. Very smooth climb up to Esino, then steep rips alternating with less steep spots. Not to be pushed too hard at the beginning, you pay for the out-of-turn later.
Salita oggi 01 maggio 2026 e tornato a Lecco dalla Valsassina. Salita molto regolare fino Esino, poi strappi ripidi alternati a punti meno pendenti. Da non spingere troppo all'inizio, si paga il fuori giri dopo.

A climb with beautiful views, especially the first few hairpin bends coming out of Varenna. Never too hard until Esino where it becomes more irregular with some sections in double figures. In winter it is extremely cold, especially the central part in the woods, but the asphalt (2025) is excellent. Wonderful view at the top of the lake.
Salita con vista bellissima specialmente i primi tornanti uscendo da Varenna. Mai troppo dura fino ad Esino dove diventa più irregolare con alcuni tratti in doppia cifra. D'inverno è estremamente fredda specie la parte centrale nel bosco ma l'asfalto (2025) è ottimo. Splendida vista in cima del lago.
Fairly easy ascent. The gradients increase a little after Esino. Very beautiful views and very little traffic. Descending towards the Bellano part there are stones in the road, be careful. At Perlasca you can enter the village where there are numerous murals. At the end you can go down to some little beach and have a nice swim.
Salita abbastanza agevole. Aumentano un pò le pendenze dopo Esino. Panorami molto belli e pochissimo traffico. Scendendo verso la parte di Bellano si trovano sassi in strada, fate attenzione. A Perlasca si può entrare nel borgo dove sono presenti numerosi dipinti murali. Alla fine poi potete scendere in qualche spiaggetta e farvi un bel bagno.
beautiful climb! straight off the ferry immediately into a series of hairpins to get out of varenna. lovely views the whole ascent. half way up forest starts with valley views. lake como vista from the top is magnificent. quiet roads and surprising smooth tarmac most of the way up! highly recommend. gentle climb, only tricky bit 3km from the top with short 12％ sections, the downhill in the last km. shade most of the way! better to climb up from varenna and down to bellano- climbing up from bellano is on 2-lanes, not as pretty..
There are great views over Lake Como with this climb especially from just past the actual Passo marker. It a good idea to stop for coffee in Esino Lario before the steep final section.
A very scenic climb with beautiful views of the lake, fairly easy until Esino Lario then it becomes difficult with some sections in double figures. At the top you can take some photos, some parts in winter I don't think ever see the sun so watch out for bends if the temperature is low.

In cima possibilità di scattare qualche foto, alcune parti in inverno non credo vedano mai il sole per cui attenzione alle curve se la temperatura è bassa.
Very nice, scenic climb. Not too heavy in the first part, the last few kilometres have some slightly more challenging parts. At the point where the pass is, there is a lay-by with a view of the entire lake, suitable for a rest.

A fantastic climb, long...but what views!!! At every hairpin bend you can enjoy the beauty of the lake below. Up to Esino the climb is regular without tears, then the gradients become more aggressive and the climb is not very regular. At the top there is a falsopiano before the viewpoint. Una salita fantastica, lunga...ma che panorami!!! Ad ogni tornante si gode di tutta la bellezza del lago sottostante. Fino ad Esino si sale regolare senza strappi, poi le pendenze si fanno più aggressive e la salita è poco regolare. In cima c'è un falsopiano prima del punto panoramico. Ottimo manto stradale. Da fare!!!
