Surface is gravel but is in good shape, nice road no traffic.

The gravel is in good shape and the scenery is still pretty. Perfectly doable with a normal course bike and normal tyres. Nice alternative to the big track you would otherwise take.

The bit of gravel is no problem at all with the course bike - this climb only done because Climbfinder recognised it. Otherwise not worth the effort. Other sides of the Oedelemberg are more recommended

Actually, this is a gravel strip, as up to the main track it is actually narrow and not paved. Still doable with the course bike. But for the course bike, it's not actually a climb.
