This is a fine climb and, along with Melin-y-Wig, is one of the best in the local area. Although the gradient is steep (12-15%) for 900m at the start it is a steady climb and easy to get into a rhythm. The climb leaves the village of Bettws Gwerfil Goch behind at a sharp left-hander which looks steep on approach (briefly hit 20% on my gps) but after the bend the gradient lessens to around 9% for 100m. At the top look out for a small rock on the left. It makes a perfect seat on which to take a break and enjoy the view across to the Berwyn Mountains.
