This is a fine climb and, along with Melin-y-Wig, is one of the best in the local area. Although the gradient is steep (12-15％) for 900m at the start it is a steady climb and easy to get into a rhythm. The climb leaves the village of Bettws Gwerfil Goch behind at a sharp left-hander which looks steep on approach (briefly hit 20％ on my gps) but after the bend the gradient lessens to around 9％ for 100m. This is a fine climb and, along with Melin-y-Wig, is one of the best in the local area. Although the gradient is steep (12-15％) for 900m at the start it is a steady climb and easy to get into a rhythm. The climb leaves the village of Bettws Gwerfil Goch behind at a sharp left-hander which looks steep on approach (briefly hit 20％ on my gps) but after the bend the gradient lessens to around 9％ for 100m. There is then another 500m of steady climbing at around 15％ before the gradient lessens. The final stretch of climbing to the road top undulates with several short, steep, kickers. At the top look out for a small rock on the left. It makes a perfect seat on which to take a break and enjoy the view across to the Berwyn Mountains.
