Its a really steep climb from "The Gantry" which is 6.5kms from the top of Mt Baw BawBaw with much of the gradient in double figures before it eases off in the last 500 mtrs or so which is a big relief. Its always a welcoming sight to see the Baw Baw stone wall at the finish line. Winch corner is well over 20% gradient so the climb is really challenging and demanding but well worth making the effort if you want to climb Australia's hardest single climb. I've done it 3 times now and its very satisfying want you have finished. The road is narrow and the descent rally fast and some of the corners can be dangerous especially if a car is approaching from opposite direction. Dont be surprised to see a snake or 2 as well. As much as this climb will have you wondering in the midst of it why am I doing it, its well worth the effort. There are limited views at the top and best to check whether the cafe is open. It took me 48 mins to climb from the Gantry and 1 hr 21 from Tanjil Bren
