The Champagne route in the Hauts de France.
The Moucherelle slope follows the Mont de Bonneil tourist trail. And it's quite a pleasant ride.
I had the feeling that it was climbing a little more than the profile indicated. More like an 8% on the first half of the climb. You climb through vineyards and then cross fields of rapeseed. The village of Romeny is full of charm. The road is ultra quiet and the atmosphere up there at Moucherelle is quite strange. Abandoned wineries stand side by side with bustling activity: after the absolute calm of the climb, once I reached the village I found myself engulfed in a hubbub of tractors and wine-making machinery.
I really enjoyed this short climb. You feel like you've stepped out of the Ile de France.
