For those travelling along the Alzo-Cesara provincial road (western side of Lake D'Orta), a short diversions to Monte San Giulio, a small village in a sunny position and a natural balcony over the southern portion of Lake D'Orta, Pella and the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sasso, may be of interest. The climb starts at the bridge over the Pellino stream and immediately begins with gradients close to 10% until the second hairpin bend. In view of the viewpoint (a bench can clearly be seen on the right) the slope decreases and the road continues to the upper part of the village where there is a fountain. The small road continues between the houses to the beginning of the mule track to Egro (it is a pity it is not passable by bdc otherwise you could make a sort of loop and descend to Cesara).
